Like me, most of you already know the hard way that Dodge's are notorious for transmission problems and failures But did you know that Dodge recommends adjusting the bands in your automatic transmission with every fluid change?

Neither did I, that is the reason that I compiled this information and created this E-book, so that people like me, that don't mind getting their hands dirty to save a few thousand dollars could maintain and repair their own transmissions.

So what do these bands actually do and why does Dodge says I should adjust them at 24,000 miles or 24 months, whenever comes first?

• The front band controls the 2nd gear cluster.
• The rear band controls the 3rd gear cluster and reverse.
• For a 2-3 shift, the transmission shifts back to 1st gear with the front band while the rear band engages 3rd gear.
• If the front band does not release the 2nd gear clutches before the third gear clutches engage, the transmission binds, which shortens the life of the transmission clutches.
• If the front band releases too early in the shift, the engine will overspeed (sounds and feels like a slip) during the 2-3 shift.

You also get a step by step guide to changing the fluid and filter as well as installing a drain plug into your transmission fluid drain pan. As well as some other misc. troubleshooting tips for diagnosing shift problems.
